Cause that's how we roll...

Yesterday Collin insisted he wear this spongebob costume and Madelyn wanted in on the fun so she decided on her pink cowgirl hat which matched her red outfit in such a lovely fashion.  Next they wanted pictures...pictures with mommy in them.  Mommy was still in her jammies, had not yet applied a stitch of make-up and completed her look with untouched bed head...sweet.
Why would I post such pictures of crazy bed head mommy adorned with polka dot jammies?  Because let's just be honest, that's how we roll around here!

And please do notice the progression of Mads and her hat...

My king...

Good Friday.
The day that our Savior died on a cross.

"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son so that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
John 3:16

It was my sin that held Him there.

"Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed."
Isaih 53:4-5

...they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand.  And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"  And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.  And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him.
Matthew 27:28-31

His wounds have paid my ransom.

"He said, it is finished and He bowed his head and gave up the ghost"

John 19:30

"By his wounds we are healed"
Isiah 53:5

Today I have pondered the cross.
I have pondered how great the Father's love for me.
I have pondered how undeserving I am of His mercy.
I have pondered how grateful I am for His forgiveness.
Today I have fallen in love with my King all over again!

The story doesn't end at the cross...
my King rose from the dead and reigns in heaven!
Praise be to our almighty Father!

Floaters...

Anyone who knows me well at all knows that I am a big ol self professed germaphobe.  I don't share food with others, even family.  If you drink out of my cup you might as well drink the whole thing because I am done with it.  No offense to you or anything, I just don't want your germs...and let's be honest, you don't want mine either right?!  The last time I drank after my brother (who drank out of my cup, thank you very much) was about 8 years ago.  I clearly remember him taking a sip of my gatorade and I thought "ah what the heck he isn't sick"... ya until the next day when he was puking his guts out.  Lovely, I know, but case in point, you just never know when someone is carrying around some nastiness that could become your nastiness if you aren't careful.

I don't drink after my own kids either.  I am NOT fearful of their germs but I don't want to pass any of my germs to them.  I am pretty sure most people probably think I am head case with issues (haha) but in my defense, I clearly remember my pediatrician recommending this as well, as adults may be carrying germs that their bodies are immune to but may make little people sick.
So we all use our own eating utensils and drink out of our own cups.  Weird to some I know, but it helps keep some germs at bay.  And when it comes to sick kids, well sick kids...enough said!

So today at dinner I am sitting next to Collin bug.  I grab what I think is my water bottle and chug bag some wet goodness.  I set it down and realize it isn't mine, it is Collin's.  No big deal I will just keep it as my own...
That is until I take a look at what is inside the water bottle.  Oh yes, water for sure.  Water with ten thousand floaters.  Well isn't that just another form of lovely right there for ya!  ;)
And it's also just one more reason to drink out of your own glass!!

Love for Liela

I just completed my online registration for the Relay for Life.  I am a very proud member of the "Love for Liela" team.

I have grown close to Liela's family this year and let me tell you, they are lovely people.  You know the kind of people that I am talking about right?

The "strangers" who instantly make you feel like family.

The kind of people who hug you so tight just to make sure that you truly feel loved by them.

The kind of people who make you feel extra, super special just for being you.

The kind of people who leave huge footprints on your heart...

Yep, that's Liela's family, they are those kind of people.

Spend a few moments here and you will have the opportunity to take peek into Liela's life story.  She radiates beauty from the inside out, I know you will agree.  Her warm and inviting smile will make you wish you knew her.  She may even inspire you to put on your walking shoes in order to help with the fight against the ugly disease that took her beautiful life...cancer

If you feel lead to donate to our team in honor of Liela visit our Love for Liela page here to make a donation.  You can donate under my name or any other name that is there on our list!

Hello Spring!

It has been warming up around here and that means that we have been getting outside!  Can I get an AMEN?!  How about a HALLELUJAH?!

While playing out in the yard yesterday I noticed that this sweet little thing had her tongue hanging out most of the afternoon.  Funny thing is her daddy does the same thing when he is hard at work...
Yes she is four wheelin' in her leopard pants and crocks, thank you very much!  ;)
Might I add that she did let out a few hearty "YEEHAW's" and I have no idea where she learned that word from!

Full cup of sugar right there folks!

Ya'll come back now, ya hear?!

Eyes in the back of my head...

I often catch Collin in the middle of mischief.  I mean the boy finds an opportunity for naughty business and he has a hard time turning it down.  He always asks "how did you see me mommy?".  I tell him "I have mommy eyes and sometimes I can see you even though you can't see me."  I mean after all, this IS true, I often sneak attack up on him when he doesn't see it coming.

So yesterday, while making dinner,  I send Mr. Mischievous to his room to play alone for a bit because he simply can not leave his sister alone.  He is awfully quiet in there, a definite clue that I need to further investigate.  I go in and find that all the screws from his book sling (which is attached to the wall) are all laid out on the floor.

"Collin why are these screws all over the floor?"

"I took them out."

"Collin why would you do that?"

"Well I guess your mommy eyes don't work while you are cooking dinner!"

I have no words...

oh the things you say

The other night Ryan and I were just hangin with the kids when Collin found a box of candy conversation hearts and decided he had to open them.  We all joined in on the fun and Collin wanted everyone to read the message that was on their heart.  It was his turn and he looked at his piece of sugary goodness for a quick moment and exclaimed...

"Oh I know what mine says...
It says KEEP YOUR FEET DOWN!"

Lol, yes we are still working on the toe walking!  We got a good chuckle out of that!!

That same evening I took Madelyn out to look at some paint samples.  She was tearing through the samples and I couldn't clean them up fast enough.  The mountain of samples in the stroller was quickly growing and it had to be stopped so I gave her a very important job.

"Here Madelyn mommy will hand you a sample and you put it in the stroller."

I gave her the first one and said "here ya go put it in the stroller".

She quickly responded with a sweet "Gracious"

I giggled and said "your welcome".

Here response...
"De nada"

Ah yes, thank you Dora for making us a bit bilingual.  :)

A Funt@stic day!

I think this is the last of the birthday palooza week posts!  Whew, crazy fun week!!

We had the kids birthday party last Saturday at Funt@stic!  We invited lots of their little friends and had a blast.  It was a photographers nightmare as kids were running from here to there but they had fun and that's what really matters!  Here are some of the pictures I was able to snap...well the ones that aren't a big smudge of color due to the fact that the object being photographed was in motion!  ;)

 Cute couple!

We had a morning party so instead of cupcakes or cake we had sprinkle donuts and juice!

I love this!  Madelyn thought Collin needed some help!

Madelyn lovin on her Olivia purse.

Whew!  What a GREAT day!!

Thanks to everyone who helped including Nana who helped with  the cost and Grammy who made all the food for the adults!!
