You make me laugh

Collin ran around in his underwear for a good portion the afternoon.  I mean seriously it is dead of winter and stinkin cold and I can't keep clothes on this child.  Anywho, I sent him to his room for the 10th time to "put pants on" and he finally gave in...or so I thought.  After several moments of quiet (always a clue that there is some stinker business going on) I called to him "Collin what are you doing?".
Que the four year old "wait til you see this" giggle...
And out walks this...
Collin with a "few" extra pair of undies...

 And by a few I mean 15...
15 pair of underwear people, we both giggled the entire time I peeled them off, layer by layer, all 15 of them!

Resourceful?

Some may call this being resourceful...
But the fact that he emptied ALL his toy buckets in order to stack them and use them for an extra tall stool was not so exciting for me.
His mission was accomplished though, he reached Dinosaur Train!

And look at this little stinker checking out her many facial expressions...

We think you're funny too Mads...

Preschool, what?!

Yesterday we went to preschool open house/registration for the fall.  Seriously how can that be?
But yes it is true, we registered this guy for preschool and last night we met his teacher, Ms. Pam.
Do you think he will give her a run for her money???
This momma's heart just can't believe that my first born is soon off to school.  Makes me feel sad.  Well sad for me, but I am very excited for Collin!  He was thrilled last night!  I am excited for him to meet new friends and make fun little projects, learn new songs and have holiday parties.  He will enjoy himself I am sure and I am pretty sure I will cry!  It's one of many more firsts right?

Dude would not take a serious picture...
 Look at these little stinkers...
And just because this is funny...

Earning his keep...

As for Mads, well she is overseeing the project!

You know you're a mom when...

You know you are a mom of little people when you are panting on the elliptical machine and suddenly you realize that you are listening to "The Wheels on the Bus" coming from your ipod...
best part is the song is half way over and it took you that long to realize that isn't "your" music.  :)

You know you are a mom to little people when
you hear the words "butt" and "I love you" used in the same sentence and you don't think it is weird at all!

You know you are a mom to little people when you constantly have to tell whether you are going "poop or pee" while in the bathroom.

You know you are a mom to little people when you have to explain that the phrase "whew I am pooped" doesn't actually mean  you need to use the bathroom.

You know you are a mom to little people when you flush the toilet and you hear the sound of little hands clapping and an excited voice calls out "yay mommy, all done pee pee!"

You know you are a mom to little people when you use the words "poop and pee" several times in a blog post that other adults will read!  :)

You know you are a mom to little people when you contemplate whether or not the word "why" should really be a part of the our vocabulary... ;)

You know you are a mom to little people when you say "in just a minute" and then for the next 60 seconds you say "not yet" 60 times...

You know you are a mom to little people when you can't imagine songs like "The Wheels on the Bus" not being a part of your every day...

when "I love you mommy butt" is endearing...

when you realize that sometime in the not so distant future you will have the bathroom all to yourself and you will be a little sad that little hands aren't waiting to cheer for you when you finish...

when you consider a thousand inquisitive "whys" a day a blessing as they are proof of a growing mind...

You know you are a mom to little people when your hands are full and so is your heart!!

Phone calls...

Madelyn loves to talk on the phone.  And if you have ever had a phone chat with her then you have had the great pleasure of her spirited conversation.  She babbles non stop the entire time hardly taking a breath to let you get a word in edge wise.  She even fake laughs periodically just to make sure the conversation is as thrilling for you as it is to her.  It is hard not to giggle throughout the whole thing, and let me assure you that hearing her side of the story is only half of what is so funny, it's watching her that is the other side of hilarious.
And Papa, you should know that when she calls you it is because it has been requested... "I call Papa, I talk uh Papa"...

Answer your phone when it rings...
You never know when it will be this little lovely on the other end!

I'm cleaning out my closet

Today while Madelyn napped Collin and I ventured up into my bedroom.  He rested on the bed and watched "The Letter Factory" while I decided to clean out my closet (well one of them anyway).  I sat on the floor surrounded by piles of clothes...to keep or not to keep... I mean I haven't worn this or that in years but I might someday right?
Eventually Collin came over and asked
"do you need any help Mommy?"
"Oh I am just trying to figure out what clothes to get rid of...."
"hmmm well why don't you just get rid of daddy's clothes?"

Can I get an AMEN sistas?
I love this boy!
P.S. We love you daddy, and so we won't be getting rid of any of your clothes!

A very happy birthday

On Tuesday I turned 32!  It was a sweet day and I was showered with much love by all my loverlies!  We began celebrating on Monday night with some of our family.  The kids opened my presents and we all had yummy dessert.  Always so nice to hang out with my favorite people!

1-11-11, that's my day this year, what a fun date!  Started off perfect when I was greeted by sweet Madelyn with her batting eyes and her excited "HAPPY BIR~DAY MOMMY!".  She is delicious!  Collin gave me this present that he had wrapped all by himself...
Sweet boy gave me one of his monster trucks...that's love people!
I went in to work for the afternoon and my girlfriends had made me a birthday lunch and dessert, so sweet!  My first graders sang happy birthday to me, also sweet.  I was showered with well wishes, e-mails and facebook messages all day long!  I felt very loved!

Uncle Michael and Aunt Andi came over after work to watch the kids so that Ryan and I could go out to dinner.  A nice way to end a great day!

My most treasured gifts...

Monster Jam

Yesterday Daddy took Collin to Monster Jam at Ford Field!  Collin was one very excited little boy!!  He asked all morning, approximately every 5 minutes, "is it time for Monster Jam?".
Here he is preparing to leave, all set with his headphones and a monster truck...
He came ripping through the door wearing this hat...

Poor kid did not have his eyes open in one picture!
This hat was his "most favorite thing" about Monster Jam!  Ryan said he asked for one the entire time they were there and daddy kept saying "before we leave".  They were walking out and daddy didn't see any more so he told Collin they were all gone.  Wasn't long before Collin yelled "THERE'S ONE!" I am sure he had eagle eyes on to find it.  Sure enough, only one still hanging there and they snagged it!  Collin was ELATED!  Fifteen bucks for a foam hat filled with cotton candy may sound expensive but I think it was the best $15 we have spent in awhile!  This little boys heart was just bubbling over this silly hat!
He went to bed two hours past his bedtime (10:30)
and woke up an hour early (7:00) immediately asking to look through his Monster Jam book!
He couldn't wait to show Mads,
she looks thrilled right?!

He couldn't wait to share with her, so sweet of him!
Everyone played Monster trucks today...

What a fun day for daddy and our bug Collin!
Makes my heart happy that they were able to spend the day together do "boy" things!  Mads and I went to Grammy and Papa's and had fun hanging with them.  Sweetest moment was when Mads held her hand out to Papa and said "friends?"...
she waited for him to take her hand and when he did she proclaimed it "FRIENDS!"...
Be still my heart!

Being that Collin missed out on three hours of sleep last night we just decided to stay tucked inside the house today and take it easy.  Everyone is napping now and the house is quiet!
